Den zahllosen verfälschenden und verkürzenden Presse-Mitteilungen über den Krieg gegen die Hamas in Gaza setzt „The Israel Project“ einige interessante Fakten entgegen:

Israel’s Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

    (könnte die Verlinkung zur Zeitung für Schland vielleicht doch zu den Blogs gesetzt werden, die Kapazität einer echten Zeitung hat sie nämlich dann doch nicht… was dieser Tage schmerzlich bewusst wird)

    bisher wurde – wenn überhaupt zu dieser flüchtlingsthematik- noch immer berichtet, ägypten riegele ab, würde sogar auf flüchtlinge schießen: „an der Grenze zwischen dem Gazastreifen und Ägypten herrscht nun Chaos. Nachdem Hunderte Palästinener Absperrungen durchbrochen hatten, eröffneten ägyptische Sicherheitskräfte das Feuer, wie Regierungsbeamte und Augenzeugen berichteten. Entlang der 14 Kilometer langen Grenze strömten an mindestens fünf Stellen Palästinenser nach Ägypten. Mindestens 300 Grenzposten seien in das Gebiet verlegt worden, um die Grenze wieder zu schließen.Nach palästinensischen Angaben wurden mehrere Menschen von den Schüssen der ägyptischen Sicherheitskräfte verletzt. Ein Bewohner des Gazastreifens sagte, Anwohner hätten sich eines Bulldozers bemächtigt, um weitere Breschen in die Grenze zu schlagen.“ (dpa 28.12)
    zugegeben dürfte es schwierig sein, sich von kugeln oder von trümmern getroffen, ohne milizen-pickup, allein, nach rafah zu schleppen. wie das aber genau durchgesetzt wird, bleibt aber unklar.

  4. Ich hätte dem Leser zumindest erklärt, was es mit dem TIP auf sich hat, und erwarte das auch von anderen Journalisten. Es ist unpassend, Journalisten vorzuwerfen, sie würden Pressemitteilungen verkürzen und verfälschen, dann aber Zahlen als Fakten zu präsentieren, die aus einer ebenfalls nicht unabhängigen Quelle stammen.

    Ließ dir den Teilsatz nochmal durch, da steckt ein logischer Fehler drin.

    Außerdem ist die Quelle doch offengelegt (im Gegensatz etwa zur Hamas-footage der Tagesschau und anderer Nachrichtensendungen), was will man mehr?

  6. Ja, der Satz ist missglückt.
    Ich meine, es wird hier so dargestellt, als wäre die TIP unabhängig und würde nur Fakten verbreiten. Dabei ist sie ebenfalls eine PR-Organisation. Mich würde z. B. interessieren, wer für sie spendet und wo sie ihre Daten her hat.

  7. Wenn die IDF sagt, dass im Monat Mai 2008 X Kassams plus Y Mörser abgefeuert wurden, glaube ich ihr das. Wenn sie sagt, sie hat Phosphormunition nach internationalem Recht angewendet, kritisiere ich das, aber ich kann es kaum anzweifeln. Soweit meine Position.
    Die Zahlen von TIP stehen hiermit im Raum. Was davon zu bezweifeln wäre, müsste genannt werden.
    Die Fussnoten, die hier aufgrund diverser Layoutprobleme nicht erscheinen, aber im angegebenen Link verfügbar sind, legen die genauen Quellen offen.

    Nun ist ja bei einem vorläufigen Nullergebnis eine Waffenruhe eingekehrt, die das Unternehmen wieder in Frage stellt. Anscheinend hat Pipes recht und es ging nur um eine ziemlich planlose Demonstration von Tatkräftigkeit ohne Zielvorgabe.

  8. Sofern die Angaben leicht nachprüfbar sind, ziehe ich sie nicht in Zweifel und neige auch nicht dazu, sie nachzuprüfen.
    Zu den Kriegszielen: Ich habe von keinen gehört. Auf jeden Fall nicht von konkreten. Was wohl kein Zufall ist, sondern Eigenart der Politik. Wenn ein Politiker überhaupt konkrete Ziele angibt, dann nur langfristige, damit sich niemand mehr dran erinnern kann oder er schon längst aus dem Amt ist, wenn die Frist abgelaufen ist. Die israelische Regierung hat ja auch aus dem Libanon-Debakel gelernt: Untergrundorganisationen wie die Hisbollah lassen sich nicht einfach vernichten, und tote Soldaten sich nicht mehr retten. Die israelische Regierung brauchte nach diesem militärischen Misserfolg einen militärischen Erfolg. Den hat sie jetzt, dem ersten Anschein nach. Ein konkretes Ziel wurde ja nicht formuliert, also kann jeder kleine Vorteil als militärischer Erfolg gedeutet werden.
    Daher hat Israel gewonnen. Wenn man keine Ziele und überlebt hat, ist man Sieger.
    Die Hamas wird in den Tagen vor der Wahl sicherlich wieder mit Raketen anfangen oder sich auf die weniger offensichtlichen Attentate verlegen, um zu zeigen, dass die israelische Regierung eben doch keinen Erfolg hatte.
    So sind die Regeln.
